Spring Update

Hey everyone!! It feels like forever since I've been on here and done a new blog post.

To be honest I've been slacking and haven't taken the time to prioritize getting posts out.

I still struggle sometimes with what to say, or what pictures to use, but I try to remind myself that it doesn't have to be perfect, although that's hard for a perfectionist, it's authenticity and just being real that matters the most!

So I thought I'd write this time about what's been going on lately and what's new in life!

It finally spring here in Montana!!

It's still chilly and lately we haven't been having much sunshine, but it's plenty warm enough for campfires and even motorcycle rides.

For months all David has been talking about is riding his Victory bike, so as soon as the major roads were clear and dry he was out ripping around on his bike.

I do have to say that there is nothing like the first ride of the season. You feel like a bird that's been let out of it's cage and you're free at last haha!!

This is Hwy 37 that runs alongside Lake Koocanusa. It's so beautiful and one of our favorite roads to ride on because of the views and minimal traffic.

Super exciting news is that I started working at a coffee shop as a barista and I absolutely love it!!!

Some friends of ours from church recently bought a coffee shop. It's been such a joy and so much fun to work there and finally get to make coffee drinks which has been something I've wanted to do for many years :)

I've always loved making drinks and trying out new combinations, so this is the perfect job for me because I can use my creativity as well as inspiration from coffee shops I've visited across the country to create some new and unique drinks.

Pictured above is a Lavender London Fog and Lavender Latte. They're SO delicious!!! And the syrup I made with Organic lavender flowers.

First picture is the Lavender Lemon Creme which taste like a creamy frozen lemonade with a floral hint to it. And the second photo is Golden Milk which is the newest addition to the menu.

Working here is a great way to express some of my creativity and even do a little bit of photography for the seasonal and specialty items. I feel blessed to have a job that I actually look forward to going to each week!!

This view is one of my favorites!! It's on highway 56 which is a beautiful road to drive or ride the bike on and as usual for roads here in Montana it hardly has any traffic on it.

One of my goals this year is to get better at time management, especially now with having a job because it's easy when you get off to just want to veg, especially when I've worked the opening shift which by the way is my favorite even though I'm not a morning person too much haha.

So in my free time I love to do anything that gets me outdoors and spend time with family and friends. Also David and I try to go to the gym 4-6 times a week. And I've started learning violin which I love but need to get better at practicing.

Another goal is to get out more and explore different places and take more photos.

With everyone growing up it seems like it's fewer and farther between the times that all the boys are together. Family is truly the most special thing in life!

Here's a view of the Kootenai River from standing on the swinging bridge.

These photos are taken near the Kootenai Falls.

Thankfully now all that white stuff is completely gone and the grass is just starting to peek up!

I love springtime not only because the weather is getting warmer and things are starting to grow, but because it also feels like an invitation to us to start growing and branching out after a long and hibernating winter. For me winter is a time where I tend to take a look around at life and learn from it's lessons and go deeper into the soul, and when spring comes it's the perfect time to take what you've learned and start growing!

Recently I started a 28-day detox, and I'm currently about a week into it.

I've always eaten healthy, worked out, and tried to be good at taking my vitamins, but life and sugar catches up with you ;) Lately I had been feeling sluggish, bloated, crampy, and tired despite drinking coffee and getting lots of sleep. So I felt it was time to do a cleanse and restart my metabolism.

The detox I chose is completely natural and the products are all high quality super fruits and vitamins. So as it cleanses out your liver, kidneys, and gut, it also is restocking your body full of the essential nutrients that we simply don't get anymore due to poor food quality. And no matter how healthy you eat, the simple truth is that food just isn't as nutrient dense as it used to be.

In less than a week I'm sleeping better, have more energy, and not crashing in between meals like I used to. Even with eating way less since I'm following the detox plan, I feel better than I did most days with three meals a day. That says to me that my body is loving all these vitamins and super fruits it's getting!!

I started the detox kinda on a "trial run" to see if the products were really as good as people say they are, and so far I've been impressed. I tend to shy away from "health fads" because it seems like everyone these days is trying to sell their product or their opinion. But if something really works it tends to speak for itself without much publicity and that's what drew my attention to this specific brand. So if you're interested in learning more or are feeling how I was and want to restart your health, just let me know and I'd love to share my experience with you!

I mentioned a couple of goals during this post and that reminds me that another one I need to set is getting better at blogging and being more consistent!

That said hopefully before too much longer I'll get around to creating one about the inside of our tiny home!! :)
